Barry S. Feinman, the inverntor and founder of Restore It Yourself, Inc. had an idea that eventually allowed him to become one of the world’s foremost experts in the art of surface restoration.

Years of research and development, primarily in applied product usage and experimentation, have allowed Barry to create products and services that are unique and innovative, and that are solutions to common problems. An example of this was the creation of the Scratch-B-Gone kit. Scratches and blemishes on expensive stainless steel appliances, sinks, counter tops and barbecues is a largely unresolved problem in the appliance and other industries. Before the creation the Scratch-B-Gone kit and process, consumers and professionals were told by experts that it was impossible to remove the scratches because the resulting “bright spot” was often worse than the scratch or blemish. Barry ’s innovative and creative technology included the co-invention of a chemical formulation that would blend and oxidize the “repaired” metal on the surface thereby eliminating the “bright spot”.

Restoration experts are amazed at how easily and quickly the process works. As a result, the initial product of the newly formed Restore It Yourself, Inc in 2005 was the Scratch-B-Gone kit in both a consumer and professional series. The products are manufactured in China, greatly reducing the manufacturing costs. In 2006, the General Electric Corporation ordered over 1,500 custom professional kits to be added to their nationwide system of appliance service vehicles. Restore It Yourself developed a custom training DVD specifically for General Electric. In addition, it has expanded retail sales through a nationwide and Canadian network of distributors. By the end of 2006, we had over 300 retail locations.

Today, Restore It Yourself enjoys being in the forefront of developing innovative cleaning and restoration products for the do-it-yourselfer. Our attention to developing easy–to-use, Green products and processes has been well received by the commercial and private sector. Restore It Yourself, Inc only brings to the market those products and processes which we ourselves develop and use in the field.

Adopted now by the leading names in appliance manufacturing, Restore It Yourself’ products are distributed internationally and in use by field service providers in various trade affiliations and specialized professions.
